>> Jon Huntsman, the ex-US envoy to China and one-time presidential candidate is Donald Trump's choice for ambassador to Russia, according to the White House. It's a high profile nomination, even more so because of allegations Moscow interfered with last year's elections. The job would require confirmation by the US Senate.
And if he gets the green light, he'll start the job while both the congress and the special counsel investigate whether team Trump had ties to Russia in his campaign. Huntsman is also the former governor of Utah, and he served in the administrations of five presidents. But reports earlier this year that Huntsman would get stationed in Russia were met with mixed reviews in Moscow itself.
One politician saying he was quote not a dove. While the Kremlin said, it would welcome anyone who might improve ties with Russia, a top Trump goal for his agenda abroad.
