Britain will send fighter jets to Romania plus 800 troops to the strategic Baltic States. While the US has promised 900 troops plus tanks and artillery to Poland.

Foreign policy reporter Matt Spetalnick.>> This latest NATO announcement is sure to anger Russia. Russia has been very clear that it's grievances towards the west, the sense that NATO is surrounding it with hostile states.

And will see that as taking that even a step further.>> The move aimed at deterring Russia from grabbing any more territory from former Soviet states, as it did with Crimean Peninsula in Ukraine.>> NATO's addition of about 4,000 new troops on Russia's borders will be an escalation of the current situation.

However, it would be somewhat symbolic. Such a force would be going up against 300,000 plus Russian troops that are stationed west of Moscow.>> The ramp up coming as soon as next May.
