The company has tried to corner the market on non-toxic household and baby products targeting chemical fearing parents. But, the cleaning agent sodium laurel sulfate has haunted its image.

In March, reports surfaced that The Honest Company's laundry detergent contained SLS, despite labeling products as SLS-free. Honest responded, saying it used something similar derived from coconut. Now, the Wall Street Journal reports it plans to drop the compound all together. The brain child of Jessica Alba, now its Chief Creative Officer, was recently valued at 1.7 billion, and is reportedly shopping itself around looking for a buyer.
