But amongst his many accolades, a Nobel Peace prize. That's for his part in the Oslo Peace Accords that attempted to end the bloodletting between Israelis and Palestinians. One of his co-signatories, current Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also in attendance. His visit to Israel bringing a rare handshake with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Probably nothing more, says Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason, travelling with President Obama.>> There were handshakes and small hugs between the President and Abbas and Netanyahu. And the fact that they were all in one place was significant, but whether or not that suggests any sort of a shift is a, probably premature and b, probably very unlikely.

>> Netanyahu's eulogy though offering some optimism.>> Israel grieves for him. The world grieves for him. But we find hope in his legacy.>> But the backdrop to the burial is far from harmonious. Israeli-Palestinian negotiations have been frozen since 2014. Jewish settlements still prove a sticking point for Palestinians as does the ongoing security situation faced by Israel.
