>> A car bomb in Baghdad has killed at least 50 people. The explosion in Sadr City a Shiite Muslim District has been claimed by Islamic State.More than 60 people also wounded according to police and hospital staff. And SUV packed with explosives went off near beauty salon and a buzzling market at rush hour.
Most of the victims were women and many of these injured are in a critical condition, resources said. Amaq News Agency, which supports IS, said a suicide bomber had targeted Shiite militia fighters. A decade ago, Baghdad was the target of daily bombings. Security in the Iraqi capital has gradually improved, but violence directed at both civilians and security forces is still frequent.
The fight against Islamic State has exacerbated a long-running sectarian conflict in Iraq, mostly between the Shiite majority and the Sunni minority.
