>> Stopping to remember. A minute's silence across France for the victims of the Nice truck attack. Thousands of people packing the seafront where delivery man Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel plowed a 19 ton truck into crowds of revelers on Bastille Day, killing 84. Thursday's attack has plunged France back into a state of grief, fear, and now political recrimination.

Reuters' France Bureau Chief, Andy Callus, says right-wing politicians are blaming the socialist government for security lapses. The Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, said yesterday that the police had done everything right.

But he did acknowledge that in order to get around a cordon of police vehicles that was blocking access to the pedestrian area, the truck mounted the pavement.>> Nicola Sarcozy saying the government had failed the people on Sunday. Speaking on state TV, he said, I know that we shouldn't fight or tear each other up while the victims haven't been buried yet.

But everything that should have been done over the past 18 months was not done. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, calling Bouhel one of its soldiers. But authorities have yet to produce evidence that the 31 year old had any actual links to the militant group.>> As the experts we've spoken to say, the link doesn't have to be anything more than tenuous.

There are groups of people who can be inspired by Islamic State without having any particularly close links to them. Two suspects arrested in connection with the attack, escorted to Paris on Monday. A total of seven people have been detained. Bouhel's brother telling Reuters he phoned home just hours before the attack and sent a quote, laughing picture from Nice.
