>> The landslides were triggered by Tropical Storm Earl, which crashed into their hillside homes, crushing residents. Soldiers on Monday going door to door searching for victims and helping dig out entrances and streets filled with heavy mud. Shelters have been set up for the thousands who lost their homes.

As Mexican authorities evaluate the devastation, the number of missing remains unclear. And on Tuesday Mexico's pacific coast bracing for tropical storm Javier as it pushes closer to the resort city of Cabo San Lucas.
