As well as a big up front fee for her new space adventure movie, Passengers. But J-Law's payday still well below that for Hollywood's top actors. While Forbes won't release it's men's list for this year until later in the week. In 2015, Robert Downey Jr. raked in $80 million, versus 52 million for Lawrence.
The ongoing gender disparity in Hollywood, sparked a backlash from Lawrence. Reuters correspondent, Jill Sargent.>> Last year, she came out and very publicly spoke about her own conflicts. And how she felt she should be asking for more money in negotiations for her movies. And that she had been hesitant about this in the past, because she was afraid of being labeled some kind of a spoiled brat.
And that really sparked off another debate about the whole gender, pay disparity.>> Oscar winner, Patricia Arquette also brought up the issue of unequal pay in her Oscar acceptance speech last year.>> There's other actresses which have also been campaigning about this. One of them is Meryl Streep, who has been a very strong on the issue of equality across the board, not just on pay.
But she did give an interview, Meryl Streep, last year saying that even she is paid less than her male counterparts. And we're talking about someone who's a three-time Oscar winner, the most admired actress of her generation, and she also has this problem.>> Others on the list, Melissa McCarthy, taking home $33 million, thanks to the female reboot of Ghostbusters.
And in third place, Scarlet Johansson of Captain America, Civil War, with $25 million. But one man may take the largest slice of the big screen pie. The top earning celebrity in all of entertainment this year was a woman. Pop diva, Taylor Swift, pulling in an estimated $170 million from record sales and her world tour.
