The island, normally a top tourist spot for Portugal, now struggling to contain a wildfire that has engulfed over 200 buildings in its largest city, 1 of 200 other blazes raging across the country that have killed at least 4. On Madeira, a thousand have been evacuated, many tourists, who crowded the airport.

It was crazy.>> Portugal's prime minister vows to rebuild the resort town. Summer forest fires are common in Portugal, but high temperatures and strong winds have complicated efforts to contain them this year.
