>> Our Christian heritage will be cherished->> GOP nominee Donald Trump courting evangelicals Friday at the Value Voters Summit in Washington. Hoping the group that helped him win a crowded primary can now take him to the Oval Office.>> Cuz I got the evangelicals.>> Campaign reporter, Steve Holland.
00:00:18
>> Evangelicals are a very important network of the Republican Party. He needs to energize these people, not only to vote for him but to get out and organize for him, just as part of a ground game in some of these key states. He desperately needs some activists out there organizing for him.
00:00:37
These people tend to vote. They don't sit on their hands on election day. If you can win their support you can do very well.>> Trump's connection with evangelicals proved one of the biggest jaw droppers of the primary.>> He's not someone who you would think evangelicals would normally be attracted to.
00:00:56
Very casual with his use of insults. You don't always see him going to church on Sunday. We had rivals like Ted Cruise who thought they would do very well and very openly campaigned for their support. But Evangelicals just saw something very appealing in Trump and he got the majority of their vote.
00:01:15
>> We will make America believe again.>> He wants to come in and shake up Washington and the evangelicals just like many millions of Americans would like to see Washington shaken up.>> And with Hillary Clinton showing surprising strength in some traditionally conservative states, Trump will need every evangelical vote he can find.
