>> Russian hackers stealing high profile American athletes' confidential information. Sounds like the plot for a spy thriller, but it's an accusation made Tuesday by the World Anti Doping Agency. It issued a statement attributing the cyber attack to a hacking group nicknamed Fancy Bear. Washington suspects the group might have direct links to the Kremlin.
00:00:21
Reuters' Jonathan Crane has more on the investigation.>> We already know that this group was one of two accused of hacking the democratic national convention back in June and they were alleged to have ties with the Russian military. Now Russia denies all of this. It's quite clear this time, it probably is fancy, but they put the information up on their website.

It all relates to what are known as TUEs, therapeutic use exemptions. Now these are kind of exemptions allowing athletes to use banned substances to treat a medical condition. This currently affects four US athletes. Among them, Serena and Venus Williams, the tennis players and US gymnast, Simone Biles, of course, won several gold medals in the Olympic Games.
00:01:05
Now the leak has actually prompted Biles to reveal that she suffers from ADHD. That's the medication she's taking. Obviously, we know that Serena Williams has been taking medication to treat muscle problems, anti-inflammatories and things like that.>> The news comes less than a month after the closing ceremony of the Rio Games, which several Russian athletes were banned from.
00:01:26
>> Though we know that this group are already promising to release more details for more federations, it really does seem like an act of revenge on their part. And then of course, there is this whole gray area with these TUEs, it's not a very transparent system. So it does kinda raise questions who's actually taking what substances.
00:01:43
The IOC has already condemned the leak, calling it an attempt to tarnish the reputation of clean athletes.
