>> The panic inside the Pulse night club in Orlando on June 12 captured on 911 calls. Transcripts of operator logs made public on Tuesday disclosing the chaos that began at 2 AM with two words, shots fired. Over the next three hours, operators recorded people moaning, screaming, and multiple shots fired, as Omar Mateen killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in the worst mass shooting in modern US history.
One victim shot in the leg and rib was said to be, quote, losing a lot of blood. The transcript described someone in a bathroom whispering please help. Another caller told a 911 dispatcher that Mateen said he was a terrorist and claimed to have bombs strapped to his body.
That claim turned out to be false but it convinced police to breach a bathroom wall and confront the gunman. At 5:15 AM, the incident log included another simple two words, subject down. The city of Orlando has yet to release any video recorded by police cameras at the crime scene.
