>> I'm enjoying being happy, at the end of the day->> It's the show business opportunity of a lifetime, comedian Kevin Hart is set to host the Oscars next year. Also known as the Academy Awards, the Oscars are the film industry's highest honor. The announcement comes at a time when the awards have been criticized for their lack of diversity in its nomination of films and performers, even it's own membership.
Hart is one of only a handful of African Americans to host the prestigious event since it's inception 90 years ago. Joining the likes of Chris Rock, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sammy Davis Jr. Hart who starred in films like Ride Along and Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle wrote on Instagram.
I'm so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the #Oscars, the Academy responded, so are we, welcome to the family. The comedian will have his work cut off for him, posts have to appeal to an audience full of A list celebrities, as well as the millions tuning in to the live broadcast internationally.
Hart takes over the role from talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, who led the gig two year in a row. Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22nd, while the 2019 ceremony will take place live on February 24th.
