nmen have attacked a building housing an Afghan State television station in the eastern city of Jalalabad. They engaged in a gun battle with security forces, according to the provincial Governor's spokesman. He confirmed that a number of insurgents entered the building, adding there appeared to be at least three attackers.
Two of them, blew themselves up. It's not known who they are or what their target is. Heavy gunfire could be heard from around the building of RTA, which is close to the provincial Governor's compound. Jalalabad is an eastern province on the border with Pakistan. Islamic State have established a stronghold there, but there's also a Taliban presence in the region.
Insurgents fighting to oust the western governments in Kabul have conducted a series of high profile attacks so far this year. They've targeted Afghanistan's largest military hospital and a military based in the northern city of Mazar i Sharif.
