>> At least three people killed in a mass shooting in Central Tel Aviv Wednesday, and seven others seriously injured. The attack occurred in the Sarona Market, a trendy open air shopping and dining area near the central military headquarters and Defense Ministry Compound. Reuters correspondent, Ori Lewis is in Israel.
>> It really is a pretty central area and a very sensitive area in many ways. I mean, you have civilians on one side, the military on the other. But the people there are really kind of out to have a good time in the evening, very nice warming thing.
The security people in the area say that it was very, very lucky that the shooters didn't actually manage to enter into the compound. Although they shot from the street or very close to the shops, but on the main street.>> Police say the two gunman came from a village near the Palestinian city of Hebron in the Israeli occupied West Bank.
Local media reporting the two were cousins in their 20s, and that they had been eating at a restaurant when they pulled out their guns and began firing. Police say both were apprehended, one was wounded. Authorities say they had no advance knowledge of any plan to strike Tel Aviv.
The frequency of Palestinian street attacks in Israel, which have included stabbings, shootings, and the ramming of cars into pedestrians, has slowed significantly in the past few months. But tensions remain high.
