Former Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro leaving a London court on Tuesday after settling her dismissal claim against the club and former manager Jose Mourinho. It was all over much sooner than expected. The exact terms remain in confidential. The undisclosed sum comes one day after the doctor rejected a £1.2 million offer from Chelsea.
The case was expected to last up to ten days and could have led to potentially embarrassing witness statements and documents including texts and emails being made public. Doctor Carneiro claimed she was sexually discriminated against by Mourinho after the Portuguese shouted an offensive phrase at her during a league match.
Reuter's Jonathon Crane has more on the story.>> So this actually goes back ten months now. It was the very first match of the premier league season Chelsea against Swansy it was nil-nil. Into the late stages of the game. Chelsea were already down to ten members. Their goalkeeper Thibault Courtois had been sent off.
Eden Hazar goes down injured. And as you might expect the team doctor and physio ran onto the pitch to treat him. Eva Carnero and the physio John Fern. Problem, as far as JC Marinia was concerned, every time that someone goes onto the pitch to treat a player, the player has to go off, so Chelsea were then down to nine men.
Marinia was incandescent with anger and this is where it's all stemmed from. The two were then suspended from first team duties, they were taken off first team duties and Carneiro never returned to the club.>> In a statement published on Tuesday the Club said it regretted the circumstances and praised the doctor for her work.
Doctor Carnaido also published a statement saying she was relieved it was over and looking forward to moving on with her life.
