>> Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara, is being sued by her two frozen embryos, part of a legal battle by her ex-finance, now taking a bizarre twist. The embryos conceived with businessman, Nick Loeb, are referred in the lawsuit as Emma and Isabel, and listed as the plaintiffs. The lawsuit filed in a Louisiana State court argues that the embryos are being deprived of their inheritance from a trust by not being born.
Louisiana is considered a pro-life state and under its law, a fertilized egg is seen as a juridical person. Loeb and Vergara split up in 2014, after undergoing fertility treatment that resulted in the creation of two embryos. Loeb has since been battling through the California courts to have the embryos carried to term and to take custody of them.
Forty-four-year-old Vergara has since married Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello. Her representatives did not return calls for comment on Thursday. But her attorney called the lawsuit a publicity stunt that would fail. Loeb is not listed as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, which was instead brought by a trustee of the trust.
