> Germany's motto for this G20 Presidency is shaping an interconnected world. And really the German's are worried about the world's connectedness going backwards and unwinding. They've got three broad themes for the presidency, stability, sustainability and responsibility. And specifically, they want to make the global economy more resilient.

They also want to link more closely climate and energy pauses to promote sustainability. And they want to support Africa to encourage private sector investment in Africa with a view to heading off future waves of migrants coming to Europe. Constraints that the Germans face for this presidency is the timing.

Germany took over today December 1st. But Germany has a federal election in September of next year. Well German officials do acknowledge privately that they won't have an easy ride. First of all, Trump's election, he said that China is killing us, killing the United States. That is on trade and there is a concern there that he could take protectionist measures to counter that.
