The new king Vajiralongkorn reading a tribute to his late father, a day after accepting it invitation from Parliament to take the throne. The new king has kept a low profile for most of his adult life and doesn't get command the same devotion as his father.

Still, Reuters Amy Lefevre says most citizens are happy to have a new king, even one that may come with some question marks.>> The public actually doesn't know that much about the crown prince, because he has been much of his adult life abroad and what they do know is through official channels mostly.

And Thais are welcoming the news he's finally taken the throne, 50 days after his father's death.>> People largely agree that the succession has gone smoothly.
