John Boehner on Wednesday announced he's joining the board of advisers of Acreage Holdings One of the nation's largest cannabis companies. Boehner, once staunchly opposed to legalizing marijuana, tweeted, my thinking on cannabis has evolved.
I'm convinced de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities. According to its website, Acreage Holdings operates in 11 states and owns cultivation, processing, and dispensary operations. Boehner not the only former prominent politician to hitch his wagon to Acreage.
One-time Massachusetts Governor William Weld, a libertarian and longtime supporter of medical marijuana, is also joining its board.>> I saw the whole episode.
