>> The brutal murder of Jo Cox a week before the Brexit vote shocked Britain. Now, the man accused of killing her in a vicious attack is being tried. 41 year-old Cox, a Pro Eu lawmaker was shot and then repeatedly stabbed in the street in June at the height of a strongly divisive campaign.
Thomas Mayer faces a charge of murder, and of causing grievous bodily harm to 77 year-old who tried to help the MP. At a hearing last month, Mayer stood silent when the judge asked if he was guilty. When asked for his name, he replied, death to traitors, freedom for Britain.
His lawyer says medical issues will not be used as a defense. The case, due to last two weeks, is now being treated as a matter of terrorism.
