And with 51 people taken to hospital, there's concern that number could yet rise. Now the focus is on establishing the cause of the crash, police confirming that the driver has been arrested.

London's Evening Standard newspaper says he's being held on suspicion of manslaughter. It says police are investigating whether he fell asleep at the wheel. The accident happened on a sharp curve, with a 20 kilometers per hour speed limit. Rail accident investigators say there are signs that tram was going much faster that than that.
