>> The whole truth and->> After an explosive testimony from the former head of the FBI, Team Trump going into defense mode. Trump's personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz is denying many of James Comey's claims he made while under oath.>> The President never suggested that Mr. Comey quote, let Flynn go, close quote.
British political correspondent James Oliphant says that now the former FBI director and the current president are in a war of credibility.>> Those were lies, plain and simple.>> Which could be tricky for Trump.>> Well this is situation where Trump of course is beloved by his hardcore supporters and just about he has tremendous credibility with them.
But polls show that he has very little credibility right now with the rest of the American public that does not approve of his performance and support them. And in fact, our own polling Reuters's polling, has shown that half the country believes that he did interfere in some way with this investigation.
And so it's more of an uphill climb for Trump.>> In an off-camera briefing, White House spokeswoman, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, taking issue with Comey portraying the President as less than truthful.>> No, I can definitively say that the president's not a liar. I think it's frankly insulting that that question would be asked.
>> The President himself unusually quiet, no tweets and no direct response to the hearing. Even ignoring questions from the press about it. Though he did say at a speech to religious conservatives.>> We're under siege, you understand that.>> The GOP's defense that the 70 year old head of the executive branch of the most powerful country on earth, simply didn't know any better.
>> The President's new at this, he's new to government.>> Mr. Comey.>> The Trump team also trying to shift focus on Comey's admission that he leaked his own memos through a third party to the press, about his interactions with the President. Trump's personal lawyer going so far as to suggest authorities might want to look into it.
