>> Ferocious storms killed three people and knocked out power across the US Northeast, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without electricity on Wednesday. This time-lapse video captured one storm rolling through upstate New York Tuesday evening. And then a deluge. Officials say all three people who died in the storms were crushed by trees that had fallen on their vehicles.
An 11 year old girl was killed in this car in Orange County, New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in several counties in southeast New York and deployed members of the state's National Guard to assist with the recovery. And officials in Brookfield, Connecticut declared a town disaster, and told residents to stay inside until they could assess the damage.
]>> The storms left commuters stranded at New York's Grand Central Station, and more than 500 flights were cancelled at three major airports.
