>> Journeys end for one of 85 migrants drowned trying to cross the Mediterranean washed up on a beach in Libya drowned like hundreds of others who attempted the same journey in the last week alone. Rescue workers found the bodies near Zuwarah in western Libya where many are thought to have started their perilous journey.

Two children among the dead. A Red Crescent official said most appear to be from Sub-Saharan Africa, it's not known how long they've been in the water. More than 40,000 migrants have paid people traffickers for the crossing, the EU suspects the trade accounts for as much as 50% of Libya's GDP.
