>> Devastation hits Somalia's capital Mogadishu. A car bomb exploded killing at least six people and wounding 20 others. A Reuters reporter at the scene counted bodies lying on the ground. Police say the death toll is expected to rise as they clean up the smoldering wrecks of cars on the roadside.
Many of the victims are believed to be shoppers and pedestrians who were out on a Sunday stroll on the busy Maka al-Mukarama road. A Reuters witness said the blast was followed by big clouds of smoke visible in the sky. As Somalia puts out the fires, the question as to who is responsible for the blast is still unanswered.
The homegrown extremist group al Shabaab often carries out deadly bombings in Mogadishu but so far no on has claimed responsibility.
