>> FBI agents working for Special Counsel Robert Mueller raided the home of President Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort. A spokesman for Manafort on Wednesday confirming the feds arrived with a search warrant at Manafort's home in Alexandria, Virginia, before dawn on July 26th. Manafort appears increasingly to be a focus of a federal investigation into allegedly Russian meddling in the 2016 Presidential Election and any ties between Russia and the Trump campaign.
Reuters correspondent, Julia Edwards Ainsley.>> Manafort, of course is a former campaign chairman of President Trump up until August of last year. When he left the campaign and has since been seen as a target for flipping by federal investigators. They think he may be able to give a lot of the details that they are not able to put together simply through gaining documents that they really need someone like him to tell the full story.
>> We know that Muller told at least part of the story to staffers from the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is conducting its own into the matter. But the FBI raid suggests Muller believes Manafort may have more to offer.>> I spoke to Manafort's spokesman, who says that his client is cooperating with federal investigators, but he's not being cooperative.
I think the distinction he's trying to draw there is that he's handing over any documents that he may have about his personal life, his finances, but he's not ratting out people who he worked with previously. That's important here because Paul Manafort wouldn't want Donald Trump or other people within the campaign to turn against him.
But of course, he's seen as a likely target to testify against people he once worked with.>> Manafort also attended the now infamous meeting at Trump Tower in June, 2016. Between Donald Trump Jr and a Russian lawyer, who had promised to deliver dirt on Hillary Clinton. Russia has denied it tried to influence the election, while Trump has called the multiple investigations into his campaign a witch hunt.
