>> The suspect behind an apparent vehicle attack in Paris is now reportedly in police custody. A judicial source telling Reuters a man has been arrested after a motorway shootout. He was allegedly unarmed, although one policeman has been injured by a stray bullet. Police were hunting the person suspected of ramming a vehicle into six French soldiers early Wednesday, two have serious wounds.

The mayor of the Levallois-Pierre District says he has no doubt it was a deliberate act. He says the car was parked in an alley before it hit troops as they left their barracks to go on patrol. The country's counterterrorism office has opened an investigation. France has been under a state of emergency for two years.
It's one of the countries hardest hit by a string of attacks across Europe inspired, or orchestrated, by militant Islamist insurgencies, some with massive casualties. Just days ago, a knife assault was thwarted at the Eiffel Tower. Military and law enforcement have been targeted in some of the incidents, such as in June, when a man died after ramming his car into a police van.
Attacks in the country have claimed more than 230 lives.
