>> A surprise and stylish win for the American Tori Bowie in the World Athletics 100 meter final. The wide-striding 26 year old timed her victory perfectly with a dip over the finish line at the very last moment. Falling off her feet in the process, clocking in at 10.85 seconds.
Barely edging out the Ivory Coast Marie-Josee Ta Lou in the lead until the very last strides. That dip putting Bowie ahead a mere hundredth of a second. It was an agonizing wait for Bowie after the race who wasn't even sure if she'd won. The race also marked a crushing blow for Jamaica who was favored to win.
Double Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson coming in fifth place instead. Jamaica's Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man also lost the 100 meter final the day before.
