That attack on February 26, 1993 killed six people and injured more than 1,000 others. It also made Americans realize they were not immune to international attacks. He was also convicted of plotting the assassination of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and others, as well as synchronized bombings throughout New York City.

Even while in prison, Abdel-Rahman was a spiritual leader for radical Muslims. His followers included Osama bin Laden, whose Al-Qaeda fighters pulled off the September 11th, 2001 attacks, that killed almost 3,000 people in the US. Abdel-Rahman was 78 years old.
