>> The New York Giants sacking controversial kicker Josh Brown after revelations arose regarding a domestic violence case. Last week the team temporarily barred Brown from games and practices after documents were released showing a years long pattern of physical and emotional abuse against his wife. But Tuesday he was cut from roster altogether.
The team came under fire for suspending Brown for a single game following his 2015 arrest. The domestic abuse charges against him were later dropped, but in documents a King County Sheriff's officer released last week. His wife said he had been physically abusive towards her more than 20 times.
And he admitted as much in journal entries. Giants' team president, John Mara, acknowledging last week that the team was aware of Brown's abusive relationship. Including the need for security to protect Brown's ex-wife from the kicker at the Pro Bowl. The NFL has been rocked by high profile domestic abuse scandals.
Most notably in 2014 when surveillance footage showed Baltimore Ravens' Ray Rice knocking out his wife. Team president Maher releasing a statement Tuesday saying, quote, our beliefs, our judgments, and our decisions were misguided. We accept that responsibility.
