>> A pause in fighting with hopes it will amount to much more. A 72 hour UN mediated truce coming into effect in Yemen Wednesday evening. The lull in fighting an opportunity for humanitarian aid to reach troubled areas. The civil war has already claimed at least 10,000 lives. Yemen's Huti run administration welcoming the cease fire.
The Saudi led collation responsible for a 19 month military intervention also backing it. But combat raged just hours before the truce was set to begin. Saudi led airstrikes hitting military bases in the capital center. For Yemeni citizens, the message seems clear.>> We are hoping for a permanent truce, an end to the war, a national reconciliation where the good of the people prevails.
We hope that the countries supporting the ceasefire will put major pressure on all the parties.>> Diplomats echoed that sentiment. The previous cease fires have failed to stop the fighting.
