Sprinting into the homestretch of the election, one major player is already claiming victory. CNN captured the coveted 25-54 year old demographic, a favorite among advertisers for the fourth straight week.
Beating rival Fox News channel in the category for the first time in 15 years.>> CNN President, Jeff Zucker strutting like a peacock around media circles. Also touting his network's overall 90% rise in the key demo during primetime over the past 12 months. And speaking of peacocks, it was Zucker who, while head of NBC, made Donald Trump a star, signing him to the Apprentice franchise.
Now Trump may be returning the favor. The Republican candidate's often flagrant language, and racuous rallies grabbing eager eyeballs as he competes against a hard-charging opponent vying to be the country's first female president. Their historic race helping lift all primetime viewership. Fox News overtook the once dominant CNN way back in 2002, and has remained on top ever since.
While Fox still wins in overall viewership, CNN's demographic victory may not only bode well Zucker and company but also for AT&T. With the telecom giant looking to seal its $85 billion takeover bid for Time Warner, parent company of CNN.
