msung's boss walking free after a close call in court Thursday. Jay Y Lee spent the night in a South Korean detention center sweating on the outcome of a judge's decision. He's accused of bribery, embezzlement, and perjury in the massive corruption scandal centering on disgraced President Park Geun-Hye.
But the court has thrown out a warrant for his arrest saying there's no clear reason why he should be detained while the investigation goes on. Special prosecutors say Lee isn't off the hook yet.>> The court decision on the arrest warrant is deeply regrettable but we will continue the investigation without wavering.
>> Lee's still under scrutiny for allegedly paying a $36 million bribe to a close friend of the President and lying under oath to Parliament. Samsung shares opened higher on the news that Lee was returning home, but analysts aren't convinced it'll be enough to cancel out losses from earlier this week.
They also know this case is far from over. One South Korean hedge fund manager telling Reuters the only thing that's changed is that now he won't be detained.>>
