COMING UP:Share Opener Variant 3

>> Yes, I got two points.>> Joe Maldonado is not yet nine years old but he's already got the Boy Scouts of America to change a century old policy. For more than a hundred years, one could only join the Boy Scouts if your gender was listed as male on your birth certificate.
Joe's New Jersey scouts troop asked him to leave after they learned he was born female.>> I like to go camping. I like to do silent experiments, we eat cupcakes and stuff always fun. But they ruin it.>> His mother Kristie Maldonado filed the complaint with the New Jersey State Division on Civil Rights.
Late Monday night the organization changed it's stance. Starting today, we will accept and register youth in the Cub and Boy Scout programs based on the gender identity indicated on the application, the organization said. In 2013, the Boy Scouts lifted a ban on openly gay members. Two years later, it lifted a ban on openly gay scout leaders.
Monday's announcement comes in the middle of a national fight over transgender rights in public bathrooms, public schools and in the workplace. Joe has been getting tokens of support, but he's not sure he'll rejoin the scouts.
