e battle for Mosul University rages on.
Iraqi special forces take on Islamic State militants. Fierce clashes enter a second day in an ongoing operation. Officers say they have cleared the southern part of the campus. And have discovered chemical substances to make weapons. According to the United Nations, militants have seized nuclear materials used for research from the university.
Rights groups and residents claim that Islamic State have used chemical agents including mustard gas in several attacks. Iraqi forces are hopeful they will liberate the campus soon. Retaking the university would be a crucial strategic gain for troops in their battle for Mosul and the fight against Islamic State.
