>> US B-2 bombers pounded Islamic state camps in Libya Wednesday night. Defense officials say stealth bombers hit targets 28 miles southwest of Sur, killing more than 80 ISIS fighters hiding out in remote desert camps. The Militants escaped Sirte last month when Libyan forces backed by US airstrikes finished clearing ISIS out of its North African stronghold.
Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Thursday, some of the fighters killed were believed to be actively plotting attacks.>> We need to strike ISIL everywhere they show up. And that's particularly true in view of the fact that we know that some of the IS operatives in Libya were involved in plotting attacks in Europe.
>> The loss of Sirte was a major blow to the jihadist group who used the city as the capital of its Libyan calafate attracting large numbers of foreign fighters.
