>> Mexican drug kingpin Jouaqin Chapo Guzman expected to appear at a federal court in Brooklyn, Friday, a day after his surprise extradition from Mexico. Once one of the most wanted drug-lords, 59 year old El Chapo, arrived in a small jet at Long Islands MacArthur Airport Thursday evening. From a prison in the northern state of Chihuahua where his Sinaloa Cartel crushed the rival Juarez Gang.
Television footage shows El Chapo being bundled out of a Mexican cell block just a few hours earlier with his hands cuffed above his bowed head. Guzman is charged in six separate indictment in the US, accused of money laundering, drug trafficking, kidnapping and murder in several cities including Chicago, Miami and New York.
The extradition coming just a day before Donald Trump moves into the Whitehouse Reuter's correspondent Dave Graham in Mexico City.>> This is one of the fastest extraditions that Mexico has ever undertaken, and one of the top narcos. And people did say of course that they were skeptical that it ever happened.
This has been in the works for some time, Mexico always said that it would hand over El Chapo. But the fact that it's happened one day before Trump takes office and in Obama's last day, kinda gives Mexico the ability to say that it was for Obama and for Trump.
What we have heard from Mexican officials so far is that they want to thank Obama for support in going after EL Chapo. But also, as an act of good will towards Trump, say, all the intelligence this guy has is now in your hands. See what we can do with it, and how can we work this out together going forward.
>> El Chapo was captured a year ago, six months after he fled a high security prison in Central Mexico, through a mile-long tunnel. His second dramatic prison escape.
