e University of California, Berkeley, going into lockdown, Wednesday night, a violent protest erupting on campus over a planned appearance by right-wing speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos. Demonstrators tearing away barricades, setting fires, and lighting firecrackers. School officers later said on Twitter, the Yiannopolous speech had been cancelled. He's a far right Breitbart News editor, the same outlet President Donald Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon used to run.
Police ordered crowds outside the student union to disperse just before protesters set a generator on fire. Yiannopolous' own Twitter account was suspended last year after he was accused of taking part in the online racial harassment of African-American actress Leslie Jones. He told Fox News he was evacuated by police after protesters began throwing rocks at the building.
