>> A record-breaking win. Serena Williams overcoming her sister Venus to claim the Australian Open for the seventh time. This victory though, extra sweet. It's her 23rd Grand Slam title, overtaking Steffi Graf's Open-era record. It wasn't without its hurdles, though. Serena made a series of unforced errors to keep her sister in the match.
But for Venus, seeking her first major title in eight years, it just wasn't to be. Serena making the most of a break point later in the second set, to eventually take the match 6-4, 6-4. She paid tribute to her older sister, saying Venus is the reason she's enjoyed so much success.
Serena's win also hands her the world number one spot, which she lost to German Angelique Kerber in September last year. Now she has the challenge of chasing down the all time Grand Slam record, currently held by Margaret Court. That, within her reach in 2017.
