>> Erie, Pennsylvania is under a snow emergency, as residents flex their muscles and dig deep to dig out of more than five feet of snow. But locals are being urged to stay off the streets, many of which are considered dangerous and impassable. AccuWeather says the record-breaking storm dumped some 60 inches of snow on the area from Sunday evening to Tuesday night.
The previous record from 1958 saw 44 inches of the white stuff fall in a two-day period. In and around Erie, crews have been working around the clock to clear major roadways.>> Our crews have been out 24/7. We have all of our plow crews out. They've been doing a fantastic job with the elements that have been out there.
It's really hard to keep up with this amount of snow.>> But the snow continues to fall. Meteorologists say Erie could see another one to two feet of snow before the week is over.
