>> A Los Angeles police bomb squad responded to a suspicious package address to US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. NBC News reported investigators quickly determined the large gift wrapped box contained a significant quantity of horse manure. The package was delivered to the Wellesley Bellaire neighborhood and discovered by a neighbor on Saturday.
It's not the first time Mnuchin has attracted negative attention. The former Goldman Sachs executive and his wife, actress Louise Linton, came under criticism after posting a photo of themselves holding wreaths of newly-minted dollar bills. The photo was taken on a trip to the bureau of engraving and printing.
The Treasury Department's own inspector general is investigating allegations Mnuchin concealed or mislead the public about a US Treasury study of the recent tax overhaul. NBC news reported the package addressed to Mnuchin, included a Christmas card referencing the tax bill. ABC7 reported the package was labelled as a gift quote, from the American people.
