>> The polls are now open and Liberians are casting their vote in the country's presidential election runoff. Voters will choose between current Vice President Joseph Boakai, and former international footballer George Weah. Boakai has been in government for 12 years and is seen as the experienced candidate. But Weah has a lot of youth support and has campaigned on a platform of change to the poor living conditions of many Liberians.
The first round of elections took place on October 10th, but neither candidate received enough votes for an outright win. Fraud accusations on the first round delayed the runoff vote in November before the Supreme Court dismissed the claims last week. The winner will replace Allen Johnson Surley, first president.
And if it goes smoothly, it will be Liberia's first peaceful handover of power in 70 years.
