>> An account of Donald Trump's first year in the White House is so explosive that the president wants to stop its publication. A lawyer representing Trump on Thursday sent a legal notice to the author and publisher of a new book warning of possible liable charges. The letter demanded the publisher quote, cease and desist from any further publication, release, or dissemination of the book.
Excerpts published this week including incendiary criticisms from former White House Strategist Steve Bannon. Bannon told author Michael Wolff, he believed a 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between senior campaign staff, including the President's own son and a lawyer with ties to the Russian government was quote, treasonous and unpatriotic.
The chasm the book created between Trump and Bannon appears to have spelled the end for a relationship that elevated two political outsiders to the highest offices in the land.>> No, I don't talk to him. I don't talk to him.>> Right after excerpts from the book were published Wednesday, the President quickly turned on his former chief strategist, saying quote, Bannon had nothing to do with me or my presidency.
When he was fired he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. Later that day, Benton responded saying quote, the President of the United States is a great man. You know I support him day in and day out.
