>> A German lawmaker faces investigation over possible incitement to hatred after she criticized a police force for tweeting in Arabic. Police in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia posted a New Year's Eve greeting in the language as well as in German, English, and French. Beatrix Von Storch of the anti-immigrant alternative for Germany party, said the police's tweet was to appease the barbaric Muslim rapist hordes of men.
German police have asked prosecutors to investigate Von Storch over her comments on social media. Twitter deleted the politician's remarks after receiving complaints from members of the public and suspended her account for some 12 hours after she posted the message. Two years ago, Cologne, which is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, was the scene of mass sexual assaults during the city's New Year's Eve celebrations.
Groups of mainly Arab immigrants were accused of being responsible for the attacks.
