>> Dozens of inmates are still on the run Tuesday, after escaping amid a violent riot at a rural prison in Brazil. Nine people were killed and 15 injured on Monday, when a group of armed inmates invaded a wing controlled by a rival gang. According to local news sources, 106 inmates escaped the prison on the outskirts of the capital of Brasilia.
Authorities have only been recapture 27. Worried relatives have gathered outside the prison compound for any updates.>> No one is telling us anything. We want news, for the love of god.>> The prison lacked oversight. Only five guards were assigned to watch over 900 inmates. The country's severely overcrowded prisons often suffer from violence and long-standing gang rivalries.
>> Just last year, a prison riot in the Amazon killed 56 people, several of whom were decapitated.
