>> NBC News has suspended Billy Bush, the host of Today's Third Hour, for his role in that conversation with Donald Trump.>> How are you?>> Billy Bush benched from his job as co-host of the Today Show Monday after fallout over the taped lewd conversation he had with Donald Trump in 2005.
>> Now if you had to choose honestly between one of us, me or the Donald?>> I don't know, that's tough competition.>> The move a reversal for NBC news which over the weekend claimed it had no plans to discipline Bush and that he would address the controversy on Monday show according to reports.
Bush, cousin to Jeb and George W, was host of Access Hollywood when he indulged Trump in vulgar banter about groping women. Their words, caught on a hot mic and leaked Friday, caused Trump to lose several GOP endorsements. Bush joined Today last summer during the Olympics and was first to interview Ryan Lochte after the swimmer claimed of being robbed at gunpoint.
He drew criticism for not questioning Lochte more aggressively on what later proved to be an embellished tale, even defending him in an on-air spat with Today anchor Al Roker. Bush on Friday issued an apology for the Trump exchange, saying he was, quote, embarrassed and ashamed by his comments.
NBC says his suspension is indefinite pending further review.
