Netflix saying Monday that it's inked a multi-year agreement with former US President, Barack Obama and Michelle. The Obamas have set up an entity called Higher Ground Productions and could produce scripted and unscripted series as well as documentaries and feature films.
The deal suggests a wider post-White House public role for the Obamas than the typical book writing, public speaking engagements, and charity work of past ex-presidents. And Netflix, 125 million subscribers around the world, gives the Obamas a broader audience. The negotiation between Obama and Netflix was first reported in the New York Times, in March.
Netflix didn't say how much the Obamas would be making from the deal. While Obama has remained relatively quiet since leaving the White House, he did make an earlier splash on Netflix in January, on the series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.>> Is now when I'm supposed to respond?
