Comedian, Roseanne Barr going on a Twitter rant after ABC canceled her show, following a racist tweet which she's now blaming on her use of Ambien.>>
In a series of tweets late Tuesday and Wednesday, Barr wrote, it was 2:00 in the morning, and I was ambien tweeting, it was memorial day too, I went too far.
Sanofi, the maker of Ambien, mocking Barr's defense, saying quote, while all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication. The tweet that sparked outrage and resulted in ABC canceling its biggest hit of the season, targeted Valerie Jarrett, a former aide to President Obama.
Soon after that explosive tweet, Barr was forced to apologize. First to Jarrett, and later to her cast and crew who lost their jobs because of her, quote, stupid tweet. Barr also said on Tuesday she was quitting Twitter but just hours later was back on, publishing and retweeting controversial remarks from fans defending her.
Hollywood talent agency, ICM, said in a statement on Tuesday, it will no longer represent Barr. Several networks also said they were removing reruns of her old show. And Hulu said, episodes of the new show would no longer be available on its streaming service. Barr also said that she was tired of, quote, being attacked and belittled more than other comedians who have said worse.
But asked for people not to boycott ABC, saying that the network has the right do what they wish. But on Wednesday, President Trump, who has praised the show in the past.>> Even look at Roseanne, I called her yesterday. Look at her ratings.>> Took a dig at ABC, tweeting quote, Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that ABC does not tolerate comments like those made by Roseanne Barr.
Gee, he never called President Donald J Trump to apologize for the horrible statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn't get the call?
