COMING UP:Share Opener Variant 2

>> One of the heaviest barrages of mortar shells fired into Israel in years. This is the moment Israel's antimissile shield shot down many of the incoming rounds fired from nearby Gaza on Tuesday. The Israeli military said 25 shells were launched toward several sites in Israeli territory. While most were intercepted, an empty kindergarten was hit in the exchange.
However, Israeli aircraft responded by striking Islamic jihad camps in the enclave, an armed group backed by Iran. There were no immediate reports of casualties from either side. Tensions have been high along the border between Israel and Gaza, which is controlled by the Islamist militant group, Hamas. On Monday, Israeli tank fire killed a Hamas fighter at a frontier outpost.
A day after three members of the Palestinian militant group Islamic jihad were killed by Israeli tank shelling after an explosive device was placed at the border fence, the group had vowed to take revenge. This follows weeks of Palestinian mass demonstrations along the border, which Israel deems to be cover fo attempts to breach the border fence.
At least 116 Palestinians have been killed and thousands hurt by army gunfire in the protests. Israel blames Hamas for provoking the violence, which the group denies.
